A recent update from Valve has triggered a significant collapse in the virtual marketplace for Counter-Strike 2 cosmetic items, slashing prices for high-value “knife skins” by more than half.
The change followed a software update released by Valve, the game’s developer, late last Wednesday. It profoundly impacted the game’s virtual economy, both within and outside the official Steam marketplace.
Items that once commanded around $130 (approximately 700 Brazilian Reals) are now available for roughly $60 (around 300 Brazilian Reals) on platforms like Steam.
For instance, a “Navaja Knife (★) | Boreal Forest” skin, which traded for over $118 (621 Brazilian Reals) last October, is now priced around $60.
The “Navaja” and “Shadow Daggers” models are currently among the most affordable knife skins, frequently found in the $50-$60 range. On Thursday, a “Navaja | Night Stripe” was listed for approximately $51 (268 Brazilian Reals), while “Shadow Daggers | Urban Masked” were seen for about $59 (312 Brazilian Reals).
Market analysts are advising caution. They note the virtual economy remains highly unstable, and prices could continue to fluctuate, potentially falling further. Gamers are urged to research past price trends before making purchases.
