Crypto gaming platform to use Worldcoin in eSports

One of the most controversial crypto projects of 2023 was undoubtedly Worldcoin. This network wants to link people’s identities to a wallet address. Not everyone was in favor, but crypto gaming platform Community Gaming sees the benefit of it. This organization will use Worldcoin to verify eSports players.

Community Gaming joins forces with Worldcoin

Community Gaming is an eSports tournament platform that has built-in crypto and blockchain features. Participation in tournaments, as well as the award ceremony, takes place completely online. Organizers can choose from fiat currencies, but also from a variety of cryptocurrencies. Think of stablecoins, but also Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and even certain in-game currencies.

On Thursday, the company announced that it is strengthening its ties with the blockchain industry through a partnership with Worldcoin. The fully digital “World ID” is used to confirm the identity of each participant. Players with such an ID will receive an icon next to their name confirming that they have been verified.

Community Gaming states that with this integration it will be better able to host tournaments with larger prize pools without any issues. To verify yourself as a player, you need a WLD wallet address, which you create by having your iris scanned with an Orb, the iris scanner developed by Worldcoin and available at fixed locations in cities almost all over the world can be found.

It must be said that Worldcoin is not having an easy time, as various governments have expressed strong criticism about the protection of user data, for example. The platform was even banned in Brazil, France and India.

Crypto gaming has it all difficult

Whether the Web 3 gaming sector, also known as “GameFi,” is doing as well as it seems is debatable. On the one hand, at the end of last year it seemed as if the industry had grown like crazy, on the other hand, many new accounts are said to come from bots and therefore not from real users. It also turns out that most “blockchain games” stop working over time.

In any case, community gaming will be significantly less affected by this. It also offers tournaments based on popular esports games such as Apex Legends, Call of Duty and Rocket League.
