Cruz and Canó will match Reyes with 4 classics

José Reyes was the only Dominican player to participate in the first four editions of the World Baseball Classic.

Nelson Cruz and Robinson Canó, on this occasion, will match him and leave behind Fernando Rodney, Miguel Tejaday and Edinson Vólquez with three interventions for each one.

The fast shortstop was in the 2006, 2009, 2013 and 2017 editions.

His best performance came in the undefeated 2013 championship when he was selected as the All-Star shortstop.

He had a .314/.351/.486 slash line with seven runs scored, one double, one triple, one home run and three RBIs.

The manager-player will be in his fourth presentation after his interventions in 2009, 2013 and 2017.

He was one of the All-Star outfielders in 2013 with a .303/.324/.424 offensive line with four doubles and six RBIs.

The veteran infielder will be in action for the fourth consecutive edition, the same ones that Cruz has played.

In 2017 he hit .300 with four runs scored, a double, a home run and three RBIs.

“La Flecha” was present in the 2006, 2013 and 2017 classics.

He was also a 2013 All-Star when he pitched in all eight games. In 7 1/2 innings he allowed one hit with three walks and eight strikeouts.

He posted seven saves with a 0.00 earned run percentage.

He holds the record for most appearances with 15 and saves with eight.

The three of Tejada
“La Guagua” took part in the 2006, 2009 and 2013 editions. In the first he hit .308 with four runs scored, three doubles and three RBIs.

With the champion team he hit .316 (19-6) with one run scored and one walk received.

Openings mark

The starting pitcher saw action with the tricolor squad in 2009, 2013 and 2017.

He shares the record for games started with Daisuke Matsuzaka with six. He had one win in two starts in 2013 with nine strikeouts and a 1.06 WHIP.

Five years ago he posted a 1.13 ERA with eight strikeouts in eight innings.
