Former Croatian coach Otto Baric died today at the age of 87, the Croatian Football Federation said, with the country’s press reporting that the coach died as a result of the covid-19.
In a statement, the federation sends its condolences to the coach’s family, for the “irreparable loss”.
Otto Baric was the coach who was ahead of Croatia in Euro 2004, with that team staying in the group stage, in a group that finished third, behind France and England.
The coach coached Croatians between 2003 and 2004, but was also coach of Austria between 1999 and 2001 and Albania between 2007 and 2008.
In his career he has also led several clubs, including Lokomotiva, LASK, Rapid Wien, Dinamo Zagreb, Stuttgart, Sturm Graz, Fenetbahce, with titles in Austria and Croatia.
