The Portuguese began his idyll with the highest national team tournament in the World Cup in Germany 2006 when he scored a goal against Iran. In South Africa 2010 he participated with a goal and an assist in the win against North Korea 7-0. Four years later, in 2014, he scored for Ghana in Brazil. His fourth World Cup was that of Russia 2018 in which he scored a hat-trick against Spain and added a bit more against Morocco. In Qatar, and again against Ghana, he adds a bit more to his footballing legend with the penalty goal he scored after Salisu’s tackle inside the area.

Christian, who received an ovation when he was replaced by Gonçalo Ramos at minute 87, has scored 118 goals for Portugal in 192 games.
