Cristian Pimentel was elected president of the Santo Domingo Province Baseball Association for the period 2023-2027, after the elections held with the endorsement of the Dominican Baseball Federation.
Pimentel, with extensive experience in minor baseball, replaces Commander José Meregildo Jiminian in the position, who had remained in the same position for several periods. The electoral assembly was held in the assembly hall of the Santo Domingo Este City Hall.
The new president of the entity had the massive support of the baseball leaders of the leagues located in the municipal demarcations of Santo Domingo East, West, North, Boca Chica, San Luis, Pedro Brand and Guerra mainly.
Together with Pimentel, the new executive committee of the institution is made up of Domingo Antonio Almánzar, Jhoel Marte Polanco and Francisco Belliard Morillo, who will be first, second and third vice president.
Likewise, Narciso Medina, general secretary; Arquímedes Lugo, finance; Pedro Rafael Guzmán, organization; Randal Salas, minutes and correspondence; Juan Carlos Feliz, international relations; Domingo Pérez, environment; Santa Sención De la Cruz, Secretary for Women; Rolando Mejía and Francisco Alberto Arias are the members.
The new board of directors was sworn in by Juan Núñez Nepomuceno, president of Fedom, along with him were Dr. Arturo Brito Méndez, Andrés Suárez and Manuel Frías, who led a seminar on baseball.
After concluding it, the large group of delegates present unanimously decided to hold the Association’s elections and as there were no objections, Augusto Martínez, president of the Sports Union of the province, proceeded to carry out the elections.
After being sworn in, Pimentel promised to work very hard to achieve a greater strengthening of baseball in all the demarcations that comprise the Santo Domingo Province. Commander Jiminián will be an ad vitam president of the institution. Roberto Neris, Sports Director of the Santo Domingo Province City Hall, supervised the elections.
He already stated that he will organize baseball events in all sectors.
“That children and young people always practice baseball will be one of our objectives, of course without ever neglecting their studies,” said Pimentel.
He stressed that, although he was elected president, he will listen and work with all the men and women who dedicate themselves from dawn to dusk to the development of this hobby.
