Crismery Santana to throw first ball in San Pedro

The Petromacorisana Olympic medalist Crismery Santana will throw the first ball of honor this Wednesday at the opening of the professional baseball tournament, at the Tetelo Vargas Stadium.

The outstanding weightlifter will be recognized by the Stars, the host team of the aforementioned stadium, and which will face the Toros del Este, in its first game of the season.

The recognition of Santana will be part of the opening ceremony of the season. It will start at 6:40 pm The game will start at 7:30 pm

Santana won a bronze medal in the 87-kilogram weightlifting competition at this year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

A native of Hato Mayor, Santana grew up and started in the sport of weightlifting in San Pedro de Macorís, where she resides. She defines herself as a petromacorisana, in gratitude for her upbringing in that city.

In the same way, she is an enthusiastic follower of the Stars, a baseball team that on a previous occasion (season 2018-2019) recognized her for her outstanding performance in the Central American and Caaribean Games Baranquilla 2018, in Colombia, where she won 2 gold medals.

The unique athlete recalled that on that occasion (2018), when she threw the first ball in a match and was honored by the Stars, the team won the national championship, for the first time in 51 years.
