Cricket Australia To Honor Rohit, Kohli With grand Farewell

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli shook the cricket world last month by announcing their retirement from Test cricket. This move came after they had already quit T20 Internationals last year. Now, these two legends will only be seen playing One-Day Internationals. In October, they’ll head to Australia with the Indian team for a series featuring three ODIs and five T20 matches. This might be their last tour, and Cricket Australia’s CEO, Todd Greenberg, wants to give them a fitting farewell.

Greenberg hasn’t revealed what’s planned, but he’s clear that Rohit and Kohli deserve a grand sendoff for their contributions to cricket. He said, “This summer could be like nothing we’ve seen before, not just because of the content, but also the players coming, especially from India. It might be our last chance to see Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli play in our country. If that’s the case, we want to ensure we give them a tremendous farewell and acknowledge their contributions to international cricket.”

Rohit’s ODI career has been impressive, with 11,168 runs in 273 matches at an average of 48.76 and a strike rate of 92.80. He’s hit 58 half-centuries and 32 centuries, including three double centuries. Kohli, on the other hand, is the player with the most ODI centuries – 51. He’s also scored 74 half-centuries and has 14,181 runs in 302 matches at an average of nearly 58 and a strike rate of almost 94.

The upcoming series in Australia will be a significant one for Rohit and Kohli. With their retirements from Test and T20 cricket, this might be their last major international series. Greenberg’s statement suggests that Cricket Australia is planning something special to honor these two cricket legends.
