Covid-19: vaccinated but tested positive, Renaud Muselier is in isolation

A political comeback under Covid and now slowed down. The president (LR) of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, Renaud Muselier, announced on Monday August 30 that he had tested positive for Covid-19.

“Confronted with a flu-like condition and vaccinated with two doses, I tested positive for Covid-19 today. I therefore immediately put myself in isolation, and must cancel my participation in any public event until obtaining a negative test, ”he wrote on the social network Twitter.

Under these conditions, the president of the PACA regional council, who took over for a second term during the regional meetings of last June, is therefore forced to cancel, at least physically, the presentation of his plan to renovate high schools in the region scheduled tomorrow Tuesday.

Above all, his medical condition prevents his participation in the visit of Emmanuel Macron, scheduled from this Wednesday in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône).

A meeting with the head of state compromised

The President of the Republic is in fact expected in Marseille to present a major plan for the second largest city in France.

The vaccines currently authorized in France greatly reduce the risk of developing severe forms of Covid-19. In his message, Renaud Muselier takes care to specify that he is “confronted with an influenza state and vaccinated with two doses”. In this context, it is reasonable to assume that his condition will not worsen.

Moreover, if vaccines reduce the risk of transmission of the coronavirus to others, there is no such thing as zero risk.

Finally, since Monday, all people aged at least 65 and those suffering from co-morbidities can book a time slot on Doctolib to receive a new injection against Covid-19.

A provision that does not concern Renaud Muselier since he is 62 years old and whose contamination, by stimulating the production of antibodies, already acts as a vaccine.
