Covid-19: the marketing of a nasal spray stopped

Since Friday, May 6, it is no longer possible to find Previdspray on the shelves of pharmacies. It was, in fact, on this date that the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (ANSM) decided to stop the marketing in France of this drug supposed to be effective against Covid-19. The effectiveness of this nasal spray, marketed by the Belgian company Clercs Medical, is questioned. “Its use is not justified with a view to combating Covid-19”, justified the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AFMPS), a Belgian body mandated by the ANSM to investigate the product. , according to information on the site Actu.fr.

In a press release, the ANSM specified that patients “could believe they are protected by this product, the effectiveness of which has not been demonstrated”. According to her, the risk is therefore that patients no longer take into account basic prevention measures, such as masks or barrier gestures. “Given the asymptomatic forms of Covid-19, this person, believing he has protected himself, could also involuntarily expose his relatives”, indicated the ANSM. In accordance with the FAMHP’s request, Clercs Medical is, moreover, “required to withdraw the batches of these devices”. People who still have the virucidal nasal spray Previdspray against Covid-19 are invited to throw it away.

3.6 million doses of vaccines thrown away in France

Recently, we learned that 3.6 million doses of vaccines against Covid-19 were going to be thrown away in May in France. Failing to find takers, these millions of doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine are, in fact, about to expire. However, the epidemic would still not be under control. And the World Health Organization (WHO) repeated last February that only significant vaccination coverage worldwide (and not just in rich countries) would put an end to the pandemic.
