Covid-19: Angola with 38 more cases and five deaths

The cases were registered in Lunda Sul (12), Luanda (11), Moxico (10), Zaire (2), Cuanza Norte (2) and Benguela (1) with ages between 1 and 71 years, 21 men and 17 women.

In this period, five people died, three men and two women, aged between 3 and 76 years, and 142 people recovered from the disease.

The laboratories processed 1671 samples by RT-PCR for a cumulative total of 815,043 samples with a positivity rate of 5.3%.

Angola currently has 42,815 cases, of which 1,016 died, 37,397 recovered and 4,402 active, including three critical and 18 serious. 152 patients are hospitalized and 141 people are under institutional care.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 4,220,816 deaths worldwide, among more than 197.8 million cases of infection with the new coronavirus, according to the latest Agence France-Presse report, published on Sunday.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Brazil and Peru.
