Coupe de France: A match canceled due to an invasion of flying ants

The kick-off could not be given. AC Arles (Regional 2) was to receive Berre SC (Regional 1), this Sunday afternoon, during the 2nd round of the Coupe de France. But the meeting could not take place due to the invasion of flying ants.

Faced with the mass presence of insects, forming clouds above the Fernand Fournier stadium, the referee, in consultation with the delegate, declared the “impassable ground”, preventing the two teams from facing each other.

It remains to be seen what will be the outcome of this meeting. AC Arles, the host team and therefore supposed to be responsible for its field, could be penalized and lose the match on the green carpet.

Unless the club benefits from the leniency of the authorities, given the exceptional nature of the situation, by setting a new date for the meeting to be held. A decision should be taken in the coming days by the Mediterranean League.
