France suspends “all its development aid and budget support actions” in Niger after the military coup against President Mohamed Bazoum, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Saturday July 29. Emmanuel Macron, who condemned “with the greatest firmness” the coup, was to open on Saturday a Defense and National Security Council dedicated to the situation in one of the last allied countries of Paris in the Sahel. Earlier, the European Union had also announced the suspension of all budgetary aid and all “security cooperation”.
