Argentine coaches Eduardo Coudet, who works for Celta de Vigo, and Gustavo Quinteros, who manages Colo Colo, are among the candidates to technically direct the Chilean soccer team, according to what was reported by the trans-Andean press.
For Francis Cagigao, Sports Director of the Chilean National Professional Football Association (ANFP), the favorite for the position is Coudet, but the Argentine has a contractual relationship with the Spanish club until 2024 and the ANFP does not have enough money to take over. of the termination of the current contract and sign a new one.
This situation makes Quinteros appear as a real option to lead the qualifying process for the World Cup in Mexico, the United States and Canada in 2026. Although Quinteros would not be Cagigao’s favorite, the hiring will depend on the conversations they have with the DT. At the moment, the Bolivian nationalized Argentine does not want to leave Colo Colo halfway through the local tournament, in which he is a leader, and in the Copa Libertadores, where he has a chance of qualifying for the round of 16.
According to the Chilean press, the ANFP would be willing to accept that Quinteros remain in the first few months simultaneously as coach of Colo Colo and the national team, especially since from June 10 La Roja must face the Kirin Cup dispute in Japan, along with the local team, Tunisia and Ghana.
