Coronavirus: Italy will allow full capacity in cinemas and theaters and will open nightclubs

The Council of Ministers of Italy approved a new decree that will allow full capacity in cinemas and theaters from October 11, and the opening of nightclubs with 75 percent outdoors and 50 percent indoors, before the advance of vaccination and the control of infections by coronavirus.

The decree also provides for a capacity of 60 percent in indoor sporting events and 75 percent in open space. This relaxation will occur in the so-called “white areas”, that is, those that have no restrictions because infections are controlled.

In all these spaces, attendees will have to wear a mask and will be subjected to temperature controls, in addition to showing their covid passport, which is obtained when the disease has passed, they have been vaccinated with the full schedule or a negative test in the previous 72 hours.

The decree provides for a tightening of sanctions for the managers of these spaces who do not comply with the limits regarding the capacity of the public in the structures.

In cinemas and theaters, one meter of distance between spectators must be guaranteed, while in discotheques and dance halls, those responsible must have ventilation systems without recirculation of air. In museums, however, it will no longer be necessary to respect the interpersonal distance of at least one meter.

The Italian Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini, has welcomed the decision and has said that these places of leisure are safe, if those who access have the covid passport, wear masks and are subjected to temperature control. “We invite Italians to relive culture in peace and security”, he assured.

Italy accumulates 4.7 million infections since the pandemic broke out in the country in February 2020 and of these, 131,198 people have died. Regarding vaccination, 85,792,497 doses have been inoculated and 43,030,314 people have received the complete schedule, the equivalent of 79.67 percent of the population over 12 years of age.
