Coronavirus in France: the results of this Friday, October 8

Contaminations and hospitalizations continue their downward trend. The daily update on the Covid epidemic in France for this day of Friday, October 8, with figures from Public Health France and the Ministry of Health.

CONTAMINATIONS

This Friday, October 8, 4,470 new cases of Covid-19 were identified according to twenty-four hours, either the figures of Public Health France, or a total of 7,047,786 cases confirmed since the start of the epidemic.

The test positivity rate dropped to 1%.

HOSPITALIZATIONS

The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized in France continues to decrease. Today, 6.805 people were hospitalized, against 6,903 the day before and 11,000 at the beginning of September. Among these patients, 1,164 are hospitalized in the intensive care units reserved for the most serious cases, against 1,200 on Thursday.

DEATHS

In twenty-four hours, 38 people died of Covid in hospital. The total death toll stands at 116,991 deaths since the start of the epidemic, including 90,180 in hospital.

THE VACCINATION

Since the start of the vaccination campaign, 50,555,192 people had received at least one dose of vaccine (i.e. 75.5% of the total population) and 49,048,908 people now have a complete vaccination schedule (i.e. 73.2% of the total population).
