Cordero and Ortiz dominate in Mejorada cyclocross

The cyclocross player and current Madrid Under-23 champion, Aarón Cordero (Crossbiker Team), was the strongest in the elite-Sub-23 race of the VIII Cyclocross City Council of Mejorada del Campo, thus removing the throne from the undefeated in the test until today, Carlos Hernández (Cross Chicken), who has all the victories of the past years in the elite U-23 event, this time getting second place in the race and first in the elite category. Miguel Díaz (X-Sauce Factory) finished third.

“It was a very fast race, since Carlos Hernández set a very high pace from the start, which only I was able to follow and, in some laps, Miguel Díaz too. Hernández made a small mistake on the last climb with the bike on his shoulder, which I was able to take advantage of to give him a few meters and win the race. The truth is that I am very happy with the result and, above all, for having contested the test against Hernández “, stated Cordero in goal, who clarified that “The circuit has been very technical due to the type of terrain it was, with curved areas and sand and others with some loose stones, the choice of tire pressure being very important, creating a very fun and entertaining route.”

While in the women’s queen test, the elite, Sub-23 and junior, the victory was for the Cosladeño runner of the Matrix-Salchi team, Noelia Ortiz, who achieved a great victory ahead of the older cyclists. Second and third were also junior, Carolina Vega (Bikery), second; and Estela Domínguez (Leioa Txirrintxu Elkartea), third.

“I did not expect to win. I wanted to take the race as training, since I knew that the leader, Estela Domínguez, was very strong. But when I saw that Carolina Vega took the lead and I held on well, I decided to accelerate in the technical part at the end of the first lap to get ahead, thus obtaining a few seconds that were worth me to win. The truth is that I have felt great ”, explained Ortiz at the end of his test, who pointed out that “The circuit has been a lot of fun even though it wasn’t ideal for me, that’s why I’ve trained a lot these days.”

The Madrid municipality of Mejorada del Campo was filled with colorful cyclists with the participation of 400 cyclo-cross riders from various areas of the Community of Madrid and other territories of Spain, including adults and children. All of them enjoyed a sunny autumn day on a 2.9-kilometer circuit through the area of the various pine forests of Parque Justo Gallego and the bullring of the town. The event was the second of the Madrid Cyclocross Federation Cup of Madrid Cycling Federation-Uves Bikes, organized, on this occasion, by the Mejorada del Campo City Council and the Coslada-Bicycles Salchi Cycling School Club.
