Copetti has two months to recover

Racing received bad news, although taking into account that something much more serious was feared at some point, the diagnosis of Enzo Copetti’s injury did not go down so badly. Forward Copetti suffered a sprained knee in the 3-2 win over Tigre and will not play the Champions Trophy final against Boca in San Luis on Sunday, since recovery will take about two months, much longer than if the cruciate ligaments were compromised.

“The studies carried out on Enzo Copetti showed a grade 2 injury to the medial collateral ligament of the right knee and a grade 2 sprain of the right ankle,” began the official statement that the Avellaneda institution published on its social networks. “He also suffered a contusive-cutting injury with a pretibial hematoma on his left leg,” the message continued after the studies carried out this Thursday on the scorer of the “albiceleste” team.

Copetti, 26, was replaced in the match against Victoria’s “Matador” by Maximiliano Romero at 43 minutes of the first stage after feeling severe pain in one of his legs. The “academic” scorer had received a strong blow from defender Víctor Cabrera 40 minutes into the first stage for which he was forced to request the change. For that action, which all Racing claimed a penalty, the referee Darío Herrera did not whistle anything.

Copetti, in addition to not being available for the decisive match against “Xeneize”, will have about two months to recover before being able to train normally again, so he will also miss the start of the preseason for the 2023 campaign .
