Contreras, Núñez, Alcántara and Carrera advance in Monte Plata

Lisandra Contreras, Novoany Núñez, Lesli Valencia, Kelly Delgado and Janny Cuero advanced to the final in their respective categories in the friendly tournament that concludes this Friday at the Fidel Mejía Sports Center in this city.

The tournament, which has the backing of the Ministry of Sports, is held with boxers from the youth team, a team from Ecuador and a representation from Ecuador as the target for the First Junior Pan American Games that will take place from November 25 to December 5, this year in Cali Valle, Colombia.

Contreras, from Monte Plata, beat Ecuadorian Jennifer Pardo 3-0, in the women’s 51 kilos category, and will face Novoany Núñez, from the national youth team, in the final, who defeated by RSC (superiority) in the first round Yohary Hernández, from Monte Plata.

In the 57 kilos, Lesli Valencia, from Ecuador, beat María Isabel Valencia, from Monte Plata, by RSC in the second round.

In the 69 kilos, Kelly Delgado, from Ecuador, defeated by RSC in the first round, Yisel Alcántara, from Monte Plata. Delgado will face his compatriot Janny Cuero, who beat Hilary Carrera, of the youth national team, 2-1.

In the meeting, organized by the Sabana Grande de Boyá Boxing Association, Junior Alcántara, of the youth national team, also advanced to the final, who defeated Braily Mota, from Monte Plata in the third round in the 52 kilos, While at 54 kilos, Enmanuel Javier, from the youth national team, defeated Osoris Moreta, from Monte Plata, by RSC.

The final matches will take place this Friday, from 2:00 in the afternoon, according to the organizing committee.

Short opening ceremony

The Mayor of the Sabana Grande de Boyá municipality, Isidro Mieses de Jesús, considered that this type of event contributes to the development of youth, while keeping them away from vices.

“We are in a position to give the necessary support to the sport so that the youth continue to grow in values,” said Mieses de Jesús, who chairs the organizing committee of the boxing friendly.

The Administrative Deputy Minister of Sports, Franklin De la Mota, representing the head of that portfolio, the engineer Francisco Camacho, assured that this ministry is committed to resuming sport as a way to promote the development of children and young people.

“We will continue to support sport as a way to promote change,” said De la Mota.

The president of the Dominican Boxing Federation (Fedoboxa), Rubén García, highlighted the support of the municipal mayor of Sabana Grande de Boyá to make this friendly exchange possible.

“The technical and organizational performance has been first rate; We hope that the different teams will achieve their objectives ”, said García.

Also in the contest were Priimitivo Cadete, president of the Sabana Grande de Boyá Boxing Association; Terry Aquino, Director of Sports; Fausto Severino, chief of staff of the Ministry of Sports; Rafael Valerio, from Fedoboxa; the councilmen Judenia Hernández; Julio Alberto Reyes, Martina Abreu and Braudilio Vergal, president of the council of councilors.
