Construction of houses for displaced families begins construction of the Boca de los Ríos dam

The Dominican Hydroelectric Generation Company (Egehid) started work on the housing project where 56 families displaced by the construction of the Boca de los Ríos dam in Santiago Rodríguez will be resettled.

The Boca de Los Ríos Dam Town Center Project is located near the community of San José and will be a housing complex of 82 square meters of construction and 500 of land, Egehid explained in a press release.

In addition, it will have a play area, a mixed field, a police station, a medical unit, a children’s day care center, an electrical network, a sewage network, and a water treatment system.

These single-family homes will be built in concrete, with gray granite floors and aluminum and glass windows. They will have three bedrooms, living room, dining room, gallery, bathroom and laundry area.

The beneficiary families are from the communities of San José, El Pastor, Rincón, Los Bombones, El Guayabito, Boca de Los Ríos, La Enramada, Pata de Vaca, El Baboso, Los Tocones and Estancia Vieja.

These 56 families are added to another 31 that have already received apartments, for a total of 87 beneficiaries.

The administrator of Egehid, engineer Rafael Salazar, indicated that this project comes to fulfill the promise of relocating those affected by the construction of the dam, a development project that comes to solve historical problems of water supply, flood control and irrigation. agricultural.
