The Constitutional Court (TC) inaugurated this Monday the third version of the Constitutional Sports Games, dedicated to Gina Mambrú, meritorious athlete of the Dominican Las Reinas del Caribe volleyball team, in an act that took place at the Club del Banco Central headed by the presiding magistrate Milton Ray Guevara.
With this activity, in which the Patriotic and Constitutionalist teams will compete in chess, athletics, basketball, billiards, dominoes, swimming, softball, table tennis, and volleyball, the TC seeks to motivate and support the practice of sport and recreation among employees constitutional.
The act began with the entrance of the flags and the teams that will participate this year, accompanied by the Music Band of the Dominican Navy, directed by Corvette Lieutenant Rafael López Giraldo, who also interpreted the national anthem and that of the Constitutional Court. .
The invocation to the Lord was in charge of the Reverend Father Catalino Tejeda, from the Buen Pastor parish, who specified that God gives people the strength to serve them and help others and that, therefore, he approves dedicating time to sport and rest.
Judge Ray Guevara delivered the central words, in which he expressed his satisfaction and pride in the event, stating that this event “marks the brotherhood, the integration of all constitutional servants in a sports practice.”
The presiding magistrate stressed that the Constitution establishes that recreation, sports and physical education constitute fundamental rights of Dominican citizens, and thanked the directors of the Central Bank Club for giving up the space for the sporting event.
Likewise, he highlighted the career of the volleyball player Gina Mambrú, mentioning the competitions in which she has competed, and the difficulties she has overcome since the beginning of her career.
Likewise, magistrate José Alejandro Ayuso, coordinator of the Organizing Commission of the Constitutional Sports Games, stressed the merits of Mambrú and how his outstanding participation helped generate success for the Dominican Volleyball Team in the country and foreign waters. In his speech, he also defined the presiding magistrate as a promoter of the sport.
The words of Olympic exhortation were given by Mambrú, a meritorious athlete from Las Reinas del Caribe, who was given a plaque of recognition that she thanked and said she was happy to be at the event.
“My greatest achievement has been to represent you all as the Dominican that I am,” she expressed while urging the participants to enjoy sports activities.
The constitutional server Mayobanex Arias, winner of athletics in 2022, held the flag that represents the 2023 Constitutional Sports Games, and Cándido Acosta, an outstanding softball athlete, took the sports oath.
During the act, the godmothers of the different teams that will participate in the contest were presented. Judge Alba Luisa Beard Marcos will be the general godmother of the games, while Judge Eunisis Vásquez Acosta and the secretary of the TC, Grace Ventura, will be from the Constitutionalists and Patriotics, respectively.
The act concluded with the departure of the flag bearers and the teams to the field. The first day began with a basketball game, in which magistrate Manuel Ulises Bonnelly Vega made the kick-off. The winners of the match were the Patrioticos who beat the Constitutionalists 78 points to 75.
The table of honor was integrated, in addition to Judge Ray Guevara, by Judges José Alejandro Ayuso, Alba Luisa Beard Marcos, Manuel Ulises Bonnelly Vega, Gina Mambrú and Catalino Tejeda.
Also present at the activity were magistrates Rafael Díaz Filpo, first substitute judge for the president, Justo Pedro Castellanos Khoury, José Alejandro Vargas Guerrero and Eunisis Vásquez Acosta.
