Conjoined Twins Carmen & Lupita Andrade Reveal Intimacy in Marriage with Daniel McCormack

Carmen and Lupita Andrade, the incredible 25-year-old conjoined twins, are offering a unique look into their lives. They’re giving the world a peek at how they balance sisterhood with personal relationships, especially with Carmen’s husband, Daniel McCormack. Their story is a masterclass in communication and respect, even when faced with the most unusual circumstances.

It’s not every day you get such an honest take on privacy. Carmen recently shared that clear communication is the absolute key to managing private moments. She explained to People magazine in an interview published on Monday, September 22, that her sister Lupita identifies as asexual. So, when Lupita feels uncomfortable during private exchanges between Carmen and Daniel—like hugs or quiet talks—they simply make sure to respect that feeling.

Lupita, for her part, has found clever ways to create her own personal space. She knows how to respect her own boundaries and keep herself distracted. "I have headphones and a phone," she simply told the publication. "I don’t care." It’s a pragmatic approach to a truly unique living situation.

Carmen, who is 25, and Daniel, 28, found each other on the Hinge dating app back in 2020. Their connection grew quickly, and they took the big step of getting married in New Milford, Connecticut, in October 2024. Carmen pointed out that society often puts pressure on couples to show affection all the time. But for them, it’s different. She noted, "Most of the time we just joke around."

Lupita made it perfectly clear that her connection with Daniel, who is 28, is strictly platonic, like family. She’s not fond of being asked if she’ll ever "love" Daniel in a romantic way. "I love him like a brother," she stated firmly. "That’s all there is to it."

Daniel also chimed in about his relationship with Carmen. It’s no secret that their dynamic draws a lot of public curiosity, and he admitted that sometimes questions about their life together cross the line. "People are obsessed with sex, you know?" Daniel told the outlet directly. "And, frankly, it’s none of your business." Carmen agreed, adding, "I don’t understand why people need to know about my private parts just to see us as human."

The Andrade twins have captivated the world with their inspiring journey. When they were born in Mexico, doctors initially gave them only three days to live. Each sister has her own heart, a pair of arms, a pair of lungs, and a stomach. However, they share some ribs, their circulatory system, and both their digestive and reproductive systems. After meeting Daniel, Carmen excitedly shared her strong bond with him during a 2023 interview with TODAY.com. She knew "right away" that he was a good match because he didn’t start their interactions by commenting on their conjoined condition. She also remembered feeling "calm" on her way to meet him.

As for whether they plan to have children and expand their family someday, the couple confirmed it’s not in their future. They shared this decision in their most recent interview. Daniel was quite straightforward about it. "No kids, I’m never planning it," he revealed. He prefers the role of an aunt or uncle, explaining, "It’s like renting a child and, at the end of the day, being able to give them back." Carmen fully agreed with Daniel’s sentiment, admitting, "I never saw myself as a mother."
