Conep follows up on its proposal to raise wages voluntarily

The National Council of Private Enterprise (Conep) follows up on its proposal to the employer sector to increase the salary of its collaborators, voluntarily and those who can do so.

The executive vice president of the national business organization, César Dargam, explained that Conep is following up on its proposal and is preparing to prepare a report with those who have done so.

However, he explained that in a preliminary way there are many companies that have already applied an adjustment, there are others that have told the union that they will do so, as there are also MSMEs that, as a result of the impact of the pandemic, were greatly affected and may not be in conditions.

Recently, the president of Conep, Pedro Brache, suggested increasing the wages of workers in the private sector so that his collaborators can face the impact of the rise in prices of the family basket. Brache specified that the proposal is aligned with high inflation, noting that they do so voluntarily.

Dargam explained that a voluntary adjustment was proposed within the possibilities of the companies and that once the announcement was made three weeks ago, Conep has received a lot of receptivity and, therefore, they want to gather the exact figures of who is doing it.

In a preliminary way, he advanced, many companies are applying salary increases throughout the year, taking into account that there are different sectors and sizes of companies.

He stated that a large majority of large companies have adjusted wages and will continue to do so.
