Conan Ledesma to Join River Plate: News and Updates on the Potential Transfer

Goalkeeper Jeremías Ledesma Leaves Cádiz for River Plate in 4.9 Million Euro Deal

And the "soap opera" of one of the goalkeepers with the highest number of interventions in the First Division in recent years, Jeremías "Conan" Ledesma, appears to have come to an end. The Argentine goalkeeper is set to leave Cádiz for River Plate in a deal worth almost 5 million euros, which includes a possible termination clause.

Cádiz had previously rejected offers from other clubs, with the player’s desire to leave the club prevailing over the rest. This comes after Ledesma had arrived on loan at Cádiz in 2020 and the club decided to sign him permanently in 2020 for 1.5 million euros.

Ledesma extended his contract with Cádiz last summer, signing a new deal until 2026, with a condition that if the club were relegated, the termination clause would be lowered from 15 million to the current sum.

The Search for a Replacement

The transfer is expected to boost Cádiz’s coffers further, with the club set to announce its replacement for Ledesma. Ex-Burgos goalkeeper José Antonio Caro is reportedly on the verge of being announced as the new number one goalkeeper, following in the footsteps of Ledesma, who has performed well over the last four years.

Ledesma’s departure marks the end of a successful spell at Cádiz, where he has been an integral part of the team’s top-flight campaign.
