Comedian Nuno Markl: “Value Micro-Things That Become Macro-Joys” After Stroke

Portuguese humorist and radio host Nuno Markl shared an optimistic update from the hospital, emphasizing the joy of small steps in his recovery after suffering a stroke.

From his hospital bed at São Francisco Xavier Hospital, Markl posted a photo on Sunday morning, visibly in good spirits. He described the “supreme joy of getting out of bed and sitting in an armchair.”

“And crossing my leg!” he added, saying, “Going through something like this makes you value micro-things that become macro-joys.” Markl has been hospitalized since Thursday after experiencing a stroke.

His post drew support and humor from various public figures. Fellow comedian César Mourão light-heartedly suggested Markl adopt an “exposed shoulder” look, perhaps with a “Better Call Saul t-shirt.” Radio host Marco Horácio urged Markl to “come back quickly” but with a lesson to “take care of yourself.”
