Comeback in time for Breogan

Serbian Stefan Momirov’s triples, especially in the third quarter -5 of 6 attempts in those 10 minutes-, and the contribution of Ethan Happ (double-double) led to Breogan River to the tenth win (92-70) of the season against Basketball Gironawho suffered the loss of Marc Gasol, although he resisted and reached the break with an advantage on the scoreboard.

The people from Lugo added their third consecutive victory at the Pazo dos Deportes, which is where they intend to secure their permanence without giving up a more ambitious goal in the second part of the season.

After a bad second quarter, the team from Lugo (13 points) signed a spectacular third from 6.75 (8 of 13 on three-pointers and 31 points), and sealed the victory in the last quarter.

Marc Gasol was absent in Lugo due to foot discomfort, he joined Pierre Orihuela in the Catalan team and the duel with Ethan Happ (the best defensive rebounders in the ACB) was deserted. Initially, Miletic was ranked 5th in the ranks of Aíto García Reneses. The breoganista had 20 points and 10 rebounds and finished with a PIR of 26.

It took almost three minutes for the people from Girona to get it right. They did it with Quino Colom’s 900 assist in the Endesa League and a triple from Miletic. After another easy basket from the team from Lugo, Aíto stopped the game for the first time and his team responded on the court. In the second, the success declined with just one basket from Nenadic in the first two minutes that Hill equalized with free kicks (22-22, m.13). A triple by Taylor put Girona ahead for the first time (22-25, m.14). With the locals stuck, the Catalans extended the lead to seven points with a triple by Colom (26-33, m.16) and Mrsic had to intervene, but nothing changed and his rival got +11 (26-37, m. .18).

Lukovic made up for his mistakes in free practice and Breogán relied on him to make up the second act before the break with a 7-2 run that allowed him to reach six down at intermission (33-39).

Breogán and Bamforth started the second period like the first, with a three-pointer from the point guard, and, with Víctor Arteaga on track and with more fluidity, the sky-blue team balanced the electronics with an 8-2 run (41-41, m.22 ) and Lukovic, from the line of 6.75, completed the comeback (46-45, m.24).

The Argentine Fjellerup and Sorolla, with a great dunk, put Girona back in front but Breogán took advantage of his lucidity in the outside game with 7 of 8 three-pointers (4 of 4 for Momirov), something unusual in Mrsic’s men, in the first seven minutes of the quarter (58-53, m.27).

Aíto stopped the clash. His rival was in tune and got +7 (60-53), but the visitors reappeared, who did not let go (60-57, m.28), especially with Miletic successful in the paint. Momirov closed his spectacular fourth with the fifth triple and the Lugo team led 5 in the last 10 minutes (64-59).

The Serbian from Breogán kept his wrist firm in the last quarter, Nenadic took over and his team advanced towards victory with a 10-2 run and 12 lead (74-61), an advantage that reached 14 points ( 77-63, m.34) and that was reduced with the losses of the Lugo that led Mrsic to request a timeout (77-67, m.35).

His team ended the game with success in the paint and a maximum income of 22 points (92-70, m.40) to definitively counteract Girona, who conceded their second consecutive defeat after having linked four victories.
