A fatal traffic accident occurred on Saturday morning, involving a car and a truck. The incident happened at 7:20 am on route 12, between Jackson and Ismael Cortinas, in the Colonia department.
The car, traveling east, stopped on the road for unknown reasons. Then, a milk tanker truck, heading in the same direction, crashed into it from behind.
Two women died: A.L.L.M., 37, at the scene, and Y.B.M.L., 32, at the Hospital of Cardona. The car’s driver, E.D.L., 32, and a passenger, K.M.R.D.L., 21, were seriously injured and taken to the hospital. Another passenger, J.J.C.S., 51, was unharmed.
The truck driver, J.M.U.M., 23, was not injured. A breathalyzer test showed no alcohol in his system.
Investigation Continues
According to the Highway Police, fog was present at the time of the accident. The road was completely blocked after the crash.
A full investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident. The Highway Police are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the car’s stop on the road.
