Coinbase’s return to the top of the App Store rankings was most likely caused by Shiba Inu’s massive price appreciation. The SHIB token was listed on Coinbase in September and has seen a massive price increase since then. Yesterday, the SHIB token hit its all-time high of $0.0000885. The token’s 24-hour trading volume was also bizarrely high. That is, around $43 billion. Coinbase was responsible for a whopping $5 billion of that figure.
Not the first time for Coinbase
This isn’t the first time Coinbase’s iOS app has topped the App Store charts in the US.
It reached the number one position in the US Apple App Store on May 10 of this year, as well as in Dec 2017. The app also ranked second in April, immediately after Coinbase shares debuted on the Nasdaq.
Earlier this month, Coinbase announced the upcoming launch of Coinbase NFT, a peer-to-peer marketplace for NFTs. At the time of writing, there are more than 2.4 million people on the waiting list for the service.
