The world of cryptocurrencies is growing in popularity all over the world and it seems to be no different in the UK. According to a study done by the American crypto exchange Coinbase at least 1 in 3 Britons currently own cryptocurrencies!

Coinbase Research

The study was conducted on behalf of Coinbase by research firm Qualtrics. This showed that at least 33% of all Brits have already invested in crypto currencies. This percentage has increased by at least 4% since October of last year. In addition, 61% of those surveyed indicate that they plan to expand their crypto holdings in the coming year.

Mainly bitcoin (BTC) is proving popular with British investors. It is in second place ethereum (ETH)† 52% of the respondents indicate that they own ether tokens. Dogecoin (DOGE) is also doing well. At least 34% of the respondents own dogecoin.

A Coinbase spokesperson said: at Cointelegraph know that these numbers show that the UK with a population of at least 67 million is a world leader in crypto adoption. In addition, it is stated that there are strong signals that the popularity of cryptocurrencies will continue to grow in the country.

“Recent surveys show that the adoption trend may continue, with many sharing the ambition to expand the size and diversification of their portfolios.”

Obstacles

Coinbase does indicate that there is certainly still work to be done when it comes to the knowledge of British crypto investors. According to Coinbase, there is still a lot that can be done to advance awareness about crypto assets.

In addition, regulators in the United Kingdom are not always positive about the crypto industry. While it is unlikely at this point that they will throw a spanner in the works, this remains an important point to keep an eye on in the future.
