“Coffee with the aroma of a woman” is served in a large cup, it is number 1 on Netflix RD

The telenovela “Café con aroma de mujer” has cast a spell on the Dominican public that Netflix has. Currently, fiction is in first place in the top 10 of the Dominican Republic on that platform.

Netflix premiered the Colombian production on December 29 and since then it has been a success, reaching number one in 19 countries in the premiere week and currently being among the most watched programs on the streaming platform in different places.

Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela, Peru, Uruguay, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Panama, Guatemala and Costa Rica are some of the nations in which the melodramatic story has triumphed.

The Colombian soap opera produced by Yalile Giordanelli and directed by Olga Rodriguez and Mauricio Cruz “El mariachi”, is based on the production of the same name released in 1994, under the creation of Fernando Gaitán.

The original was the most viewed in Colombia between 1994 and 1999 and it starred Margarita Rosa de Francisco and Guy Ecker, with the antagonistic participation of Alejandra Borrero, Silvia de Dios, Cristóbal Errázuriz, Myriam de Lourdes and Lina María Navia.

“This reversal of the classic 1994 telenovela tells the love story between Gaviota, a coffee picker, and Sebastián, a scion of the coffee aristocracy,” was the description that Netflix gave to the telenovela.

Characters and actors
The main characters, Sebastián Vallejo and Teresa Suárez “La Gaviota”, are played by Cuban actor William Levy and Colombian Laura Londoño.

The main antagonist, Lucia Sanclemente, is played by Carmen Villalobos, an actress who rose to fame after playing the character of Catalina in “Without breasts, there is no paradise.”

For their part, Mabel Moreno and Diego Cadavid play the roles of Lucrecia Valencia and Iván Vallejo, also villains.

Luces Velásquez, Katherine Vélez, Caterin Escobar, Ramiro Meneses, Juan David Agudelo, Lincoln Palomeque, María Teresa Barreto, Constanza Gutiérrez and Laura Junco are other actors who act in the melodrama.

Although it has a total of 92 chapters, only 88 were published on Netflix, which last approximately 45 minutes.

Song
The musical theme that is played frequently in the novel, is called “Gaviota”, is performed by Laura Londoño and was composed by Margarita Rosa de Francisco.

The production debuted on May 10, 2021 and ended on September 24 of the same year on Canal RCN, while on May 25 of last year, the US network Telemundo began broadcasting it.

The Mexican industry has made two versions of the telenovela, entitled “When you are mine” (starring Silvia Navarro and Sergio Basáñez in 2001) and “Destilando amor” with the main interpretations of Angélica Rivera and Eduardo Yáñez in 2007.
