CMTV Achieves Record July Audience, Leads Portuguese Cable Prime Time

Growth just keeps coming. Think of it like a sports team on an unstoppable run, and CMTV is proving to be the league leader. This past July, they hit their best numbers ever for the month. It was a clear win.

The official scorekeepers, GfK, shared the data. CMTV finished July with a 6.31% share of the audience. That’s a big jump, up 12.9% from the same time last year. What does that mean in real terms? About 137,360 people were tuned in every single minute of the day.

When you look at the competition, CMTV isn’t just ahead; they’re way out in front. Their closest rivals on cable channels simply couldn’t keep up. CNN Portugal ended July with 2.55% share. SIC Notícias was a bit behind that with 2.12%. And RTP 3 closed out the month at 0.82%. If you add up all three of those competitors, their combined share was 5.49%. CMTV’s 6.31% clearly shows their dominant position.

Prime Time Power Play

The evening hours, from 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM, are like the championship game for TV channels. This is when most people watch, and it’s where advertisers want to be. Even in this prime-time slot, CMTV remains the undisputed champion on cable.

In July, CMTV posted an average share of 5.5% during these peak hours. That translates to an impressive 204,747 viewers every minute. This was also a strong performance, up 10.4% from the year before. CMTV has held onto this top spot without challenge for 39 months in a row. It’s been 768 days since the Medialivre-owned station last lost its cable leadership. That’s a truly remarkable winning streak.
