CleanSpark buys 20,000 crypto miners from Bitmain

The Bitcoin miner called CleanSpark has purchased an additional 20,000 miners, bringing the total number of purchases during the bear market to more than 46,500 miners.

Purchase of miners at discounted rates

Purchasing the new Antminer S19j Pro+ units has cost CleanSpark about $32.3/€30 million. If you convert that to cost per terahash, that works out to $13.25/€12.41 per terahash. In total, CleanSpark adds about 2.44 EH/s by purchasing the new miners. The CEO of the company stated the following:

As soon as machines are delivered to us, rack space will be waiting for them at one of our locations. We exercise tremendous control over our infrastructure and therefore our ability to be highly efficient in how we allocate our resources.

The company adds these miners to the more than 26,500 units purchased at discounted prices over the past year. The company makes great use of the bear market. The new units will reportedly be shipped in batches. It is expected that all machines will be delivered at the end of May or the beginning of June.

Company wants to buy even more machines

CleanSpark said last week that they plan to purchase even more new machines and locations. The company wants to achieve its year-end target of 16 EH/s. To do this, they still have to take some big steps. Bradford concluded at the time:

We also expect to change our strategy when the time is right and look to future contracts. We believe the tide is starting to turn and price fixing for large orders will become part of our strategy in the coming months.
