Manchester City have won the top match in the Premier League against Chelsea 1-0. With the win, the leader increased his lead over the number two from London to no less than 13 points.

City was in control at home, but could not create much before the break. Jack Grealish was the closest to 1-0 with his shot being saved by keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. Chelsea sometimes came out nicely, but Hakim Ziyech, who had a starting spot, and Romelu Lukaku did not find each other.

Only goal

After the break, both teams dared to look for the attack more and it became a bit more fun. Ederson saved skillfully on a bet from Lukaku that came right at him. On the other hand, Kevin De Bruyne was more successful: the Belgian released himself nicely and curled the ball in to sign for the only goal of the game.

The win marked City’s twelfth consecutive league win. In the history of the English league, it has only happened once before that a team has won so many duels in a row and not become a champion.

In the 1891/1892 season, Preston North End lost the title despite a winning streak of thirteen games. Sunderland then took the title.
