Chus Mateo and Vincent Poirier spoke to the club’s media in the preview of Partizán-Real Madrid of day 32 of the Euroleague that will be played this Friday in Belgrade (20:30, Dazn). The Madrid coach said this about the game, once his team already has home court advantage guaranteed for the playoffs: “We have to defend well and wait for a team that plays physical and energetic matches at home. We must be prepared to play on a difficult field. Get the field advantage with three days to go in such a complicated Euroleague, in which so many theoretically important teams have not yet qualified for the playoffs, says a lot about the work done up to now and how we have been getting victories”.
Poirier: “It’s a good test for the playoffs”
“A very difficult match awaits us as we will be playing on a difficult pitch in front of 20,000 fans who will be cheering Partizan on. It is important for us to have a good match against a team we could face in the playoffs.. It’s a good test and, if we win, we’ll gain confidence to play at home on any difficult pitch”.
“Having secured the field factor for the playoffs is something very positive, but now we have to compete to the fullest in the remainder of the Regular League and fight to win every game. That is the best way to prepare for what is coming. We have to be together both in attack and defense, avoid losses and share the ball well, which is what we did this Wednesday against Fenerbahçe. When we play like this we are a difficult team to win”.
