Chris Martin and Sophie Turner are reportedly seeing each other. The Coldplay frontman, 48, and the former “Game of Thrones” actress, 29, have begun dating, a source confirms to Us Weekly.
They have gone on “a couple of dates in London.” The relationship is “very new,” but there is significant chemistry and “definitely a spark” between them, the source added.
The pair first met “years ago in passing.” They shared “mutual friends in the music industry” during Turner’s five-year marriage to Joe Jonas.
Turner has long admired Martin and his music. She even “joked about having a small crush on him,” finding their current romantic connection “funny and surreal.” In 2020, Turner became emotional during a surprise Martin video for her birthday on Jonas’s show “Cup of Joe.”
Their shared interests are contributing to the budding romance. The source noted they “have a lot in common” and Martin is “definitely her type.” They also connected over their British background and a mutual love for music.
The Daily Mail was the first outlet to report on Martin and Turner’s dates.
The news follows both stars’ recent high-profile separations. Martin and Dakota Johnson, 36, reportedly ended their nearly eight-year relationship in June. Johnson was later seen without her engagement ring.
Us Weekly first reported on Martin and Johnson’s on-again, off-again relationship in December 2017. The outlet confirmed their engagement in March 2024.
Turner recently ended her relationship with Peregrine Pearson, 31. They dated from October 2023 until September of this year.
“They had opposite personalities and didn’t get along,” a source told Us about Turner’s split from Pearson. “They tried to make it work, but didn’t mesh, and Sophie wanted to move on.”
Turner’s representative declined to comment on the new reports. Representatives for Martin and Pearson were also contacted by Us Weekly.
Before Pearson, Turner was married to Joe Jonas, 36. Their marriage lasted from May 2019 until September 2024. They share two daughters, Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3.
Jonas praised Turner as an “incredible mother” earlier this year. He expressed gratitude for their “beautiful coparenting relationship” during a May appearance on Jay Shetty’s live podcast tour.
Martin has two children, Apple, 21, and Moses, 19, with his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow. The “Fix You” singer and the Oscar winner announced their “conscious uncoupling” in March 2014. They were legally married from December 2003 to July 2016.
