Choreographer Nandika Dwivedi has publicly addressed the intense speculation surrounding the postponed wedding of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal. Dwivedi denied any involvement in the controversy, citing a severe impact on her mental health and receiving threats.
Her name became linked to the couple after rumors of Muchhal’s alleged cheating surfaced on social media. This occurred following the unexpected postponement of Mandhana and Muchhal’s planned November 23 wedding.
Dwivedi posted an Instagram story outlining her distress. She stated the situation has not been easy and affected her mental well-being.
She also revealed that her family members are deeply concerned. Dwivedi had previously made her Instagram account private due to the intense scrutiny.
“This was not easy for me,” Dwivedi wrote on Instagram. “I don’t want to wrongly blame anyone. Those who care about me are very sad about these things, while all this information is not true. It has affected my mental health. I am also receiving threats. My family members cannot bear to see all this. That’s why I made my account private.”
Dwivedi implored the public to cease spreading baseless rumors. She emphasized that she has made significant sacrifices to pursue her dreams in Mumbai.
“Please, I request everyone to stop spreading rumors,” she appealed. “Please, do not bring my name into this matter going forward. I have nothing to do with these things. Yes, the rest of the truth will find its own way.”
She further distanced herself from the couple’s relationship. Dwivedi stated she is not the cause of any disturbance in their personal lives.
“For some days, my name has been dragged into a matter that is very personal to someone,” she explained. “I want to tell people that I am not the reason for any disturbance in a relationship. I have no role in this. This is absolutely not true.”
Dwivedi also expressed sadness over the false narrative being constructed around her. She noted that untrue stories had spread rapidly, suggesting “someone is being defamed based on a Reddit post.”
The original reason given for the wedding postponement was Smriti Mandhana’s father’s ill health. Her father has since been discharged from the hospital.
Palash Muchhal was also hospitalized for a viral infection but has since been released. His sister, singer Palak Muchhal, was seen at the hospital.
Smriti Mandhana has removed mehndi and haldi function videos from her Instagram account. Friends of the couple have also deleted related photos and videos, though older posts remain.
The controversy also involved alleged flirting chats between Muchhal and a woman identified as Mary Decosta. Both Decosta and a friend of Nandika Dwivedi had previously issued clarifications on the matter.
Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal have not yet released public statements on the rumors or the alleged chats.
