China’s Planning Bureau is curious about public opinion on Bitcoin mining ban

China’s National Development and Reform Commission is curious about public opinion about the recently introduced Bitcoin mining ban.

Feedback from all layers of society

On September 24, the agency added digital currency mining to its list of “bad” industries. This happened after regulatory authorities in Beijing cracked down on crypto miners. Finally, a final position emerged from the committee. They have apparently been discussing the matter for two years now.

The desk is curious what the people of China think of the ban and is now asking for feedback from people from all walks of life. The feedback period lasts one month, from Thursday 21 October to 21 November. Those interested in providing feedback on the matter have four different ways to express their views. This can be done with emails, physical mail and comment sections on the committee’s website.

According to several analysts, the demand for the opinion of residents is a sign that China may be a little less harsh on cryptos after all.

America replaces China

Related to this, the committee also posted a notice on its website stating that the United States has replaced China as the most dominant Bitcoin mining country in the world.

America now accounts for more than a third of Bitcoin’s global hash-rate distribution. Kazakhstan and Russia are in second and third place respectively.

At the height of China’s dominance, Chinese miners controlled three-quarters of the global Bitcoin hashrate. Chinese miners ousted by the ban have reportedly moved their hardware to overseas locations, including Kazakhstan. There are also states, such as Texas and Florida, that want to attract some of these companies.
