Children’s and youth teams qualify for the Pan American Championship in the United States

The children’s and youth teams achieved their respective qualifications for the Pan American Table Tennis Championships to be held next July in the United States.

The selected Dominicans, in both branches, won the tickets by winning the gold medals in the Caribbean Table Tennis tournament that concluded this Sunday in Guyana.

With a total of 19 medals, including 11 gold, five silver and three bronze, the Dominican Republic won the Cup of general champion by country.

In U-15, the quisqueyan tennis players won six gold medals, two silver and a pair of bronze, while in U-19, they added five gold, three silver and one bronze.

In the Caribbean Championship, which brought together regional delegations, the top women’s team qualified for the Central American and Caribbean Games to be held this year in El Salvador.

The men’s team, which also participated in the Guyana competition, was already classified for the multi-sport event in El Salvador.

The U-15 women’s team, made up of Arianna Estrella, Yesmeily Guerrero and Dafne Sosa, prevailed in the final 3 sets to 0 against the representation of Guyana, while the men’s team defeated Trinidad and Tobago 3-0.

In the U-19 boys (Eduardo Darley, Ramón Vila and Rafael Cabrera), they defeated Guyana 3-0, to win the gold medal, while the girls, made up of Vianelkys Fernández, Shary Muñoz and Cinthia Peña, won 3-0 to Guyana.

The president of the Dominican Table Tennis Federation (Fedoteme), Dr. Daniel Landrón, reported that the participation of the Dominican delegation in the qualifier was possible with the support of the Ministry of Sports, the Group Creating Olympic Dreams (Creso) and the Olympic Committee Dominican (COD).

“It has been a great job that the athletes and coaches have done, who gave all the capacity to ratify their dominance in table tennis in the Caribbean,” said Dr. Landrón.

The sports leader indicated that those selected will return to the country to continue with the preparation program for each table tennis tournament of the Central American and Caribbean Games.
