Chelsea have secured one of the biggest renewals for their long-term project by reaching an agreement with Levi Colwill on a new six-year contract. While the deal is yet to be signed, the pledge is already in place and will keep the talented 20-year-old centre-back at Stamford Bridge until at least 2029.
Colwill returned to Chelsea this summer following a successful loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion last season, where he stood out as a major transfer target for the south coast outfit, it has been reported. The Athletic.

The young defender joined Chelsea’s pre-season late due to his involvement in the Under-21 Euro Cup with England, but impressed new manager Mauricio Pochettino in pre-season fixtures in the United States. After the match against Brighton, Pochettino praised Colwill saying: “I’m happy with him, his performance today was good, better than I expected because it’s only the first game for us after the season with Brighton. It can be one of England’s best centre-backs”.
Although Colwill made just 17 Premier League appearances last season during his loan spell at Brighton, his performance was outstanding and earned him a call-up to train with the England senior team ahead of Euro 2024 qualifying.
Next season, Colwill will be vying for a place in the Chelsea defense where he will meet competition from the likes of Benoit Badiashile, Thiago Silva and Trevoh Chalobah. Furthermore, the London team has further strengthened with the arrival of Axel Disasi from Monaco.
