Chavis leads Pirates win over Cubs, Cruz doubles

Michael Chavis homered in the eighth inning to tie the game, then had a defensive gem and capped it off with the run-scoring single in the 10th as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Chicago Cubs 8-7 on Thursday. .

Chavis’ solo homer tied the score at 7-7 after the Cubs had scored five times in the top of the eighth.

Pirates Colombian starter José Quintana allowed two runs on six hits with six strikeouts in six innings.
