Chaves Unveils 2025/26 Squad; No Last-Minute Signings

Uros Milovanovic is one of Chaves' reinforcements for this season

Desportivo de Chaves, a club playing in the Second League, held a special event this Saturday. They invited their members to the first Francisco Carvalho Trophy. The main reason for the gathering was to show off the squad for the coming 2025/26 season. What was most interesting, though, was the lack of any last-minute surprises or new signings.

This quiet presentation spoke volumes about the club’s approach. Coach Filipe Martins stepped out with a team that had no sudden additions. The squad featured faces familiar from the previous season. Young players from the club’s own academy were also present. And, of course, the new players who had already been announced in the last month were introduced. This steady unveiling hints at a club that knows its path, not one chasing headlines.

A strong team often begins with a stable foundation. Chaves clearly focused on keeping key talent. Goalkeeper Vozinha renewed his contract, providing a reliable presence between the posts. Defenders Aarón Romero and Bruno Rodrigues also committed to the club. Up front, forward Wellington Carvalho signed on for another year. These renewals show the club’s faith in its core players.

The club also brought in a mix of new faces to boost the team. In goal, Marko Gudzulic joined from Estrela da Amadora, and Thiago Pereira arrived from Vizela. The defense gained Ricardo Alves, who came from Tondela. Tiago Simões joined from 1º Dezembro, while Zach Muscat arrived from Sanliurfaspor in Turkey. Kiko Pereira also strengthened the backline after moving from Gil Vicente. This mix brings experience from different leagues.

In the midfield, Pelágio joined from Pafos FC in Cyprus, adding a fresh dynamic. The attacking lineup also saw new players step in. Roberto came from Tondela, Reinaldo from Santa Clara, and João Pedro from Vilaverdense. Robyn Esajas signed from MVV Maastricht in the Netherlands. Finally, Uros Milovanovic, a forward, arrived from Sporting Gijón in Spain. These new additions aim to provide varied options on the field.

Provisional Squad for 2025/2026:

  • Goalkeepers: Vozinha, Marko Gudzulic, and Thiago Pereira
  • Defenders: Bruno Rodrigues, Aarón Romero, Carraça, Tiago Almeida, Ricardo Alves, Tiago Simões, Tounkara, Zach Muscat, Lino, and Kiko Pereira
