Chase Chrisley recently opened up about a scary health journey on his family’s new show, ‘The Chrisleys: Back to Reality’. It seems things have taken a serious turn, with doctors even considering a brain tumor as a possibility.
“I’ve dropped a lot of weight this past year,” the 29-year-old shared in a frank moment during the Lifetime series episode that aired on Tuesday, September 9. “My body just won’t keep food down. Something’s really wrong. Honestly, it’s absolutely awful.”
Later in the fifth episode, Chase told his business partner, Cary Purcell, that his “health has gone completely south.” They were having lunch when he wondered if it was all the things he’d done catching up, or just stress. He even joked that stress wouldn’t age him because he’d “get surgery.” Chase then lightened the mood by quipping about having “an Alabama-sized hemorrhoid and a tax bill that could buy a lake house.”
After a doctor’s visit, Chase was seen driving with his girlfriend, Jodi Fournerat. When she asked how he felt, Chase admitted he was “a little scared.” Jodi explained to the cameras that Chase’s health has been getting worse. She noted he often can’t keep food down, sometimes not even water. She tried to get him to change his diet, but he’s too stubborn to think it would help.
Back at his grandmother Nanny Faye’s house, Chase shared more about what his doctor suggested. “They’re going to test my gallbladder to see if it’s working. Then, they’ll check my stomach,” he explained. “If those tests come back fine, the next step is a CT scan to look for a brain tumor.”
His father, Todd Chrisley, weighed in on Chase’s health during a phone call from prison. (Todd, 56, and his wife, Julie Chrisley, had been given a combined 19-year sentence. They faced 12 charges, including bank fraud, wire fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy. President Donald Trump pardoned them in May, and they returned home as the family filmed their new show).
“I’m not entirely sure what’s happening with Chase,” Todd said over the phone. “For about four years, Chase has had stomach issues. He’d eat and then be in the bathroom or throwing up. That seems to have gotten much worse since I left. He’s lost 7 kilos.” Todd kept going, “He told me, ‘Maybe I don’t want to know if I actually have something.’ And I told him, ‘Do you know how silly that sounds?’ I said, ‘Figure out what’s going on, fix it, and move forward with your life.’ We’re going to get to the bottom of this, I promise you.”
Throughout the episode, Chase was shown throwing up several times. This included an incident at his grandmother’s house, right after he had piled his plate with salty food.
“I’ve been doing my research. They always tell me to Google it. It’s my best friend,” Nanny Faye said in a private chat after hearing about Chase’s doctor visit. “It says it could be from anxiety, not enough sleep, and a lot of emotional things. But I tell him… putting so much salt and hot sauce on your food will burn your stomach… But you know what? I can only tell him so much.”
The season finale of ‘The Chrisleys: Back to Reality’ airs on Lifetime on Tuesday, September 16.
