Charlie Kirk Shooting: No Exit Wound Deemed “Miracle,” Erika Kirk Leads Turning Point USA

More details are coming out about how Charlie Kirk passed away, and some of them are quite astonishing.

Andrew Kolvet, who speaks for Turning Point USA and produces The Charlie Kirk Show, recently shared some incredible information. He had a chat with the doctor who treated Kirk after he was shot. What the doctor said truly sheds new light on the tragic event.

On Saturday, September 20, Kolvet spoke out on X. He addressed discussions about Charlie not having an "exit wound." "I usually don’t get into online chatter much," Kolvet wrote. "And I’m sorry if this sounds a bit graphic. But in this case, the fact there was no exit wound is likely another miracle. I want people to know this."

The conservative activist, only 31, died in early September. He was giving a speech in Utah when he was fatally shot.

Kolvet recounted his conversation with the surgeon that same Saturday. "The bullet definitely should have gone right through him," the doctor told Kolvet. He explained that this is very common with such gunshot wounds. "I’ve seen these kinds of injuries many times," the surgeon noted. "They always pass clean through. This bullet would have taken down one or two elk, or a deer." But it didn’t pass through Charlie. His body somehow stopped it.

When Kolvet mentioned the missing exit wound, the doctor was amazed. He said it was "an absolute miracle that no one else died." The surgeon remarked on Charlie’s remarkable health. "His bone was so strong, and the density was incredibly impressive," Kolvet recalled the doctor saying. "He was like the man of steel. The bullet should have gone straight through. It probably would have killed people standing behind him, too." The coroner later found the bullet lodged just under Charlie’s skin. "Even in death, Charlie managed to save the lives of those around him," Kolvet added, describing the situation as "remarkable" and "miraculous."

Charlie’s funeral ceremony is set for Sunday, September 21. He leaves behind his wife, Erika Kirk (née Frantzve), and their two young children.

Erika, 36, later opened up to The New York Times in a long interview published on Sunday. She revealed she saw Charlie’s body after his death, even though doctors advised against it. "His eyes were a little open," she remembered to The Times. "He had that mysterious half-smile, like the Mona Lisa. It was as if he died happy. As if Jesus had taken him. The bullet hit, he blinked, and he was in heaven."

Since her husband’s passing, Erika has stepped into a major new role. She is now the new CEO of Turning Point USA. A statement released Thursday, September 18, announced her promotion. "In Ecclesiastes, King Solomon wrote that God tests humanity," the statement read. "Today we face that test. But we also know God has given us everything we need to get through this tough time."

The statement continued, "It was the greatest honor of our lives to serve on the board with Charlie. He prepared all of us for a moment like this." It concluded, "He worked tirelessly to make sure Turning Point USA could get through even the biggest challenge. And now, we are so proud to announce Erika Kirk as the new Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Turning Point USA."
