Changes in the structure of Ineos for 2023: Ian Stannard arrives

The British team Ineos has Ian Stannard back, now as sports director, for 2023. He also welcomes Dajo Sanders, who will reinforce the squad’s elite group of coaches. Stannard spent 10 years of his cycling career racing for the team and became known for his determination and success in some of cycling’s toughest races. This included winning back-to-back editions of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in 2014 and 2015, the latter where he bested two Etixx-Quickstep riders and won in an incredible two-man sprint.

Stannard honed his racing prowess over the course of many classics seasons and as part of three of the team’s seven successful Tour de France campaigns. After retiring in 2020, Stannard joined Trinity Racing as Sporting Director, working with some of the young talent now racing for Ineos. “It is very exciting to return to the team. I had two great years and a steep learning curve at Trinity Racing, which I think puts me in a good place to take a position in sports management. I really want to take on new challenges”, says the Briton.

The Ineos coaching staff will also be strengthened by the addition of Dajo Sanders. The highly experienced Dutchman competed nationally and internationally while completing his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in exercise physiology at the University of Maastricht. Sanders is the co-author of more than 30 widely published articles and has conducted applied sports science projects with several professional cycling teams.
