Chandni Bar Returns Title Row: IMPPA Notifies Sandip Singh After Madhur Bhandarkar Complaint

Remember the buzz when filmmaker Sandip Singh announced a sequel to the gritty 2001 hit, ‘Chandni Bar’? Fans got pretty excited thinking about ‘Chandni Bar Returns’. But hold your horses! It turns out there’s a big fight over the film’s title, and it’s stirring up trouble in the industry.

The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has stepped in. They’ve sent a stern notice to producer Sandip Singh. Why? Because he’s accused of using the title ‘Chandni Bar’ without getting the proper green light.

So, who’s behind this complaint? None other than Madhur Bhandarkar and his company, Messrs. Bhandarkar Entertainment. Madhur Bhandarkar was the director of the original ‘Chandni Bar’. His team filed a complaint, saying that Sandip Singh’s company is trying to use their registered title for a sequel. And they did this without asking for permission first.

IMPPA shared the details of the complaint in a letter to Sandip Singh. They made it clear that “Chandni Bar” is a title that belongs to Messrs. Bhandarkar Entertainment. They also warned that using the title in any way without their written approval is not allowed. Such a move could lead to serious legal action. Therefore, Sandip Singh has been told to stop using the title right away.

The original ‘Chandni Bar’, released in 2001, was quite a film. It showed the tough parts of Mumbai’s underworld. Topics like prostitution, dance bars, and gun crime were central to its story. Actress Tabu and Atul Kulkarni played the main characters. Other talented actors like Ananya Khare, Rajpal Yadav, Meenakshi Sahani, and Vishal Thakkar also had supporting roles.
