Clement Champoussin was the great surprise of the twentieth day of the Vuelta a España. The Frenchman came from the escape, but stayed when the roosters attacked. Later, he took advantage of his marking to surprise everyone and end with his arms raised. At the end of the stage, the Ag2r rider was thrilled.
“Everybody has arrived very tired to the flight. When the favorites have started to shoot and attack, I have not been able to follow them. Little by little I have been arriving. The final part of the stage was done almost like a chrono. Gino Mäder helped me a lot. The last kilometer was not so hard, except for the final 150 meters that have been terrible for me.“, he assured.
