CFE Offers Free Internet to Eligible Mexicans with Conectividad para el Bienestar

Internet is a must-have for daily life. The Mexican government and CFE have a plan to help. It’s called Conectividad para el Bienestar, or Connectivity for Wellbeing. This program gives free internet and mobile phone service to people who need it.

The program includes 5 GB of internet per month, unlimited social media, 1500 minutes for calls, 500 text messages, and hotspot sharing. But there’s a catch: you can’t save unused data or minutes for the next month.

To get this free internet, you need to meet some requirements. You must be part of a social program like Pensión del Bienestar, Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro, or becas Benito Juárez. If you live in a vulnerable area, you can apply if you’re over 14 years old.

You’ll need to go to a local Secretaría del Bienestar office with some documents:

  • A valid ID
  • CURP
  • Proof of address
  • Birth certificate and guardianship papers if you’re under 18
  • A compatible cell phone

This program is free for a year. After that, you’ll need to pay for the services you want to keep. If you don’t qualify for the free plan, there are other options. CFE Internet para Todos offers plans from 3 to 100 GB per month, starting at $33 pesos.

The Mexican government is working on a plan to provide free satellite internet to everyone. This could help the 91.33% of the population that already has access to internet, and bring internet to remote areas.

The Conectividad para el Bienestar program is a big step towards digital inclusion. If you’re part of a social program or live in a vulnerable area, you can get free internet for a year. This is a great opportunity to get connected, informed, and make the most of the benefits.
