If you live in zones like Baja California, Noreste, Norte, Sur, PenÃnsula, or Centro, you might be able to get a discount on your electricity bill. However, to qualify, you need to have a fixed electricity consumption, so if you pay very little or have excess credits from other times of the year, you won’t be able to participate.
To check if you’re eligible, look for a “1F” on your electricity bill, which indicates that your rate has been adjusted according to the summer tariff schedule. The discount will be available until October, and even though the rainy season has started, it will still apply, since not all states have the same benefits.

If you didn’t get a discount, don’t worry. The CFE has some tips to help you save energy and reduce your bill. You can start by replacing your light bulbs with energy-efficient ones, regulating your air conditioner’s temperature, and avoiding placing it near fire sources. You can also check for electricity leaks and use devices that cut off power to unused rooms.
Additionally, you can try:
- Using power strips to plug in your appliances and turn them off with one switch
- Installing solar panels or investing in renewable energy sources
- Insulating your home to reduce heat loss
- Using ceiling fans to circulate air and reduce the need for air conditioning
