CFE Electricity Bill Discounts: States Eligible for June Discounts Announced

The Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) is offering a special discount to customers who have seen a big jump in their electricity bills due to the summer heat. This discount is part of a summer subsidy program designed to help users who have had to crank up their air conditioners and fans. To qualify, customers must be on certain rate plans – 1C, 1D, 1E, 1F, or the High Consumption Tariff. Their city must have also hit temperatures above 36 degrees Celsius.

Eligibility Criteria

To get the discount, customers need to check their electricity bill to see if they’re on one of the eligible rate plans. The discount applies to users who have had high energy consumption due to the hot weather. Not all areas within a state may qualify, as temperatures vary.

CFE didn’t say how long the discount will last. It might only be for June or could go until October, like the general subsidy.

States Receiving Discounts

The following states are getting the discount:

  • Baja California
  • Campeche
  • Chiapas
  • Chihuahua
  • Coahuila
  • Colima
  • Guerrero
  • Morelos
  • Nayarit
  • Nuevo León
  • Oaxaca
  • San Luis Potosí
  • Sinaloa
  • Sonora
  • Tabasco
  • Tamaulipas
  • Veracruz
  • Yucatán

If a customer’s state is on this list, the discount will be applied automatically to their next bill. If not, they can contact CFE’s customer service to find out why. Some areas might not qualify due to lower temperatures or payment issues. The discount is good news for customers who have been using a lot of energy to stay cool. For questions or concerns, customers can call CFE’s 24-hour hotline at 071.
