Celta 2024-25 Takes Shape as Transfer Window Closes
Less than four weeks before the start of the league competition, Celta’s squad is beginning to take shape, despite the departure of several players.
The club’s Football Department, led by Marco Garcés, has closed its first and only signing to date, the loan of Borja Iglesias from Borja Iglesias, a priority for coach Claudio Giráldez to replace Larsen.
Since then, the club’s priority has been to give players an outlet, with six players leaving Celta this summer: Larsen, Lautaro, Fontán, Miguel Rodríguez, Baeza, and Dotor. Tapia is not included in this list, as his contract was ending.
In addition, the club is working to get rid of Manu Sánchez, Kevin, Lobete, and Paciencia, with the first being the most marketable. None of these players have been included in the squad for the pre-season friendlies. The club may also consider loaning out Tadeo Allende, who they believe needs a year’s loan, and Alfon, who could also leave.
As a result, the club will not reach its target of 15 casualties, but could exceed 10. The current situation points to a squad of 22 players and 3 youth players, rather than the originally announced 18 first-team players and 5 youth players.
Celta has also been clear that as long as important players do not leave, the club will only make two signings. In this sense, a midfielder with a more offensive profile is expected to arrive, who will be available to the coach before the start of the championship.
